About Me

“Never complain. Never explain.” – Katherine Hepburn

For the record: People like to share some background information on their bio to give you a little insight, etc. I am almost certain that most reading this blog know me. If you know me. .. then you pretty much know me well. But there may be some visitors who are curious about this star. … so here goes:

Kathleen Adele: I was named (first name) after my dad’s ex-“girlfriend” (true-story), middle name is my grandmother’s (dad’s mom) name

Origins: Where it started in Africa, I am not sure but my parents are from Haiti (Sak ap fete?). … so I am guessing it traces back to West Africa, right? Somebody help me out here. Guess I need to take one of those ancestry or genealogy tests, huh? But my tribe hails from Haiti.

About Me: Born and raised in Stamford, Connecticut. I grew up in a strict but fun household where mom ALWAYS knew best. … and Dad co-signed and where I followed my brother around like an annoying litter sister should.

Career goal: To be a field multimedia producer/reporter/writer & to produce at least ONE documentary. … and also become a magazine editor. OK, so right now I really don’t know what I want to be when I grow up. But I am in the right area for sure!

Hobbies: Travel (if reading Travel & Leisure counts – hee hee. … that’s been my extent of travel lately.) Letter writing, baking, creating greeting cards, photography.

Thing I wish I could do since I was nine: Be an Olympian swimmer or gymnast – not going to happen.

Family tree: uhm, I don’t have my own little family yet. So I check the box single [and always ready to mingle.] But it’s my parents, my older brother, sister-in-law, two nephews … and of course, an endless list of aunts, uncles, cousins.

My latest obsession: Who has time to obsess? I am on the go! Mover and shaker and citizen of the world, darling!

Food: Anyone who knows me knows that there is almost nothing that I dislike in the culinary world. Could be the reason why I am so indecisive when it comes to ordering food.

Music: Oh, dear. The list is endless. I’ll share another time.

TV: The Wire, Golden Girls, Girlfriends, Gilmore Girls, The First 48, The Closer, Nightline, ANYTHING on The Food Network, BBC, Independent Lens, and most programming on PBS, Flip that House, CBS Sunday Morning.

Radio: NPR, 1010 WINS (you give us 22 minutes, we’ll give you the world)

Interests: Reading, health & fitness, FOOD, greeting cards, family & friends, magazines, Holy Bible, pro sports, college basketball, softball and volleyball.

Fantasy: Dancing on tour with a celebrity OR be a contestant on Dancing with the Stars. But I am not sure how that would happen when I am not a celebrity and not a professional dancer. Oh, well. Guess that’s why it’s a fantasy.

What I love: to laugh; put smiles on faces; to share love.

Other goals: Live healthy. Publish a nonfiction book. Get some bylines in some of my favorite magazines. Be a faithful disciple. Spread love. Take more salsa & merengue classes. Travel. Date. Just HAVE FUN and find a piece of joy in all things.

Advice hour: Socialize more. … I was told it will help my writing. … and I believe it.

Bad habits: returning calls promptly. … someone told me my call back policy is horrible. … it really is. … sorry.

What I’m reading: Besides endless pieces & books for my classes? I am reading Soul on Ice (Eldridge Cleaver), An Unbroken Agony (Randall Robinson), and Franny & Zooey (J.D. Salinger) … any tips on speed reading? There is a bookcase of books I want to get through. Oh. .. there’s my daily devotional, Jesus Calling that always leads me to the Holy Bible.

Magazines on the sideline: Women’s Health, The New Yorker, Esquire, Martha Stewart Living & Weddings, Saveur, New York, ESPN, The Economist, Gourmet, Elle, Prevention and an imaginary magazine that I have worked up in my head that I hope to see on the newsstands, or more realistically ONLINE, one day.

Questions: Secrets about my past? Dying to know something that I probably won’t share? Tips? Advice? Email me at writeme.kat@gmail.com!

Live, Love, Laugh … a lot!
